When the weather warms back up again on Siesta Key (not that it was ever particularly cold anyway) the big spring events start popping up.
Siesta Key and Sarasota are known to celebrate the most stunning season of the year with bold get-togethers, creative gatherings, and local-centric festivities. Below we cover just a few of the Siesta Key things to do for the spring.
Circus Sarasota
Sarasota sure loves its circus’. From the fun-loving romps of the acclaimed daredevils to high wire extravaganzas, Circus Sarasota is a local favorite. Perhaps playing off the distinct culture of the Ringling Circus, this event draws huge crowds and a lot of enthusiasm.
Tickets are about $25 a person. The event is at the Big Top, located at 140 University Town Center Drive, Sarasota, FL. The performances are slated to begin the first two weeks of March.
Pittsburgh Pirates Pirate Fest

It is expected to begin around 10:30 a.m. and continue to about 12:30 p.m. The event is held at LECOM Field, 1611 9th Street West, Bradenton, FL.
The event is free. The 2019 dates are not yet confirmed, but the event typically takes place early March.
Sarasota Jazz Festival
This massive event is a necessity for any jazz fan, both life-long diehards and curious enthusiasts. The Jazz Club of Sarasota has collected well over 100 musicians together across nearly 50 different events for their 39th annual “Generation of Jazz” event.
The event spans a multitude of venues, both small and large. Some shows are free while others require ticketed entrance. If the weather is a bit hot for your liking, come by for a show or two.
This is one of the best events if you prefer to stay indoors and see some music.

Sarasota County Fair
The 83rd Annual County Fair in Sarasota is one of the finest in the country. The fair delves into its Ringling roots at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds. You can expect to find blistering rides, competitive games, and piles upon piles of cotton candy. Most years offer animal rides and performances, including that of one particularly talented elephant.
The event is slated to begin March 15th and continue to March 24th.
Berry Fest
This is one of the Key’s most fun Easter events for all. Go on an Easter-themed train ride, find eggs buried in the brush, and pet baby animals. The event is free and located at Fruitville Grove, 7410 Fruitville Rd., Sarasota, FL. It is March 16th and March 17th.
