When Jill Pedigo moved to Osprey, Florida, from Naperville, Illinois, she took her love of the Chicago Bears with her. She and her Bears loving father traveled all around to find a bar that would play the Bears game on TV. They finally found one, but it was on the worst TV, and with no sound! Her father Jack had said that they should start their own bar. It may have started as a joke, but it inspired a legacy.
With the end of football season nearing, Jill had managed to convince her entire family to partner with her and help her manage what is now known as the Siesta Key Oyster bar.
Every Sunday during football season, they transform the bar from a fun beach bar to a full sports bar. They make sure that the Bears play on the best TV in the house with the sound on so fans can hear the play-by-play. Not only are they known for being the best Chicago Bears sports bar in Siesta Key Village, but they also serve award-winning food from top chefs. Chef Shawn is a master at incorporating the freshest seasonal ingredients. He adjusts the menu seasonally so locals and tourists alike can enjoy something. You’ll never know what you see on the menu whenever you visit.
Menu and Specials
The Siesta Key Oyster Bar (SKOB) crafts each dish with a continuously rotating menu to achieve the best results. They have a passion for quality that goes unmatched in the Siesta Key area. Every ingredient they use is fresh and local.
SKOB runs specials every day! One of their biggest specials is Big G’s Oyster Happy Hour. This special is 50% off a dozen of the house oysters from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. every day! You can get raw or steamed oysters by the dozen or half dozen. A half dozen oysters cost $8, and a dozen cost $16. Every day they have a rotating daily drink specials menu where a select liquor will only cost $5! You’ll find $5 Stoli Mondays, $5 Siesta Key rum Tuesdays, $5 Ketel One Wednesdays, $5 Bacardi Thursdays, $5 Jameson Fridays, $5 Captain Morgan Saturdays, and $5 Absolut Sundays.
Of course, you’ll find the best oysters, mussels, and clams here, but their menu has so much more than that. Their SKOBetizers have options like their “Award-winning” wings, grouper bites, and Tuna Poke. They have soups, salads, and flatbreads as well! But what you need to dive into are their classics. Their Siesta Key Extravaganza comes loaded with blackened Mahi, jerked shrimp, and two key style crab cakes and your choices of sides. Or you can dive into their chipotle lobster tacos.
