How to Save Money During Your Siesta Key Vacation (And Not Miss a Thing)

A vacation at Siesta Key doesn’t have to cost a fortune. There are so many free and low-cost things to do to keep you and your family busy during your stay. Many of these activities are conveniently located near some of the best Siesta Key beach hotels.

Take a walk on the beach to enjoy a breathtaking sunset, or visit during the sea turtle nesting season to witness one of nature’s most exciting events on the key. Neither of these memorable experiences will cost you a dime.

But there are also some other fun ways to enjoy your vacation without draining your bank account. Here are some fun activities that are either free or low cost in the Siesta Key area.

Museum of Art Mondays at Ringling

The Ringling Museum is one of the most popular attractions in Sarasota, but admission can cost up to $25 per person. Instead of paying full price for admission, wait until Monday to visit the museum – admission is free. Parking is also free.

Spend the afternoon strolling the galleries and museum grounds, which span 66 acres. The free admission even applies to special exhibits.

The museum was designed as a Renaissance-style palace and features 21 galleries that enclose a courtyard. Enjoy the large collection of European paintings, the ancient and medieval objects on display and the paneled rooms.

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is just a short distance from some of the most popular hotels near Siesta Key, making it an easy stop for afternoon fun.

Family Saturday’s at Ringling

If you’re planning a weekend trip to Ringling, wait for Family Saturday. The event is free, although a ticket is required. Two adults may receive free museum admission per child, and each ticket will include museum admission for the rest of the day.

Family Saturday is a creative project that’s related to the museum’s collection. Each week, themes are rotated to cover the Gardens, Museum of Art, the Circus and the Ca d’Zan.

The event also includes a making component in the Education Building classrooms, which helps families learn more about the project’s inspiration.

Family Saturdays give kids and families the chance to better understand the museum and its collection. It’s a great way to spend the afternoon and is a free event the whole family will love.

There are three starting times for the event, which lasts one hour: 10 am, 11 am and 12 pm.
