Halloween Activities in Sarasota

Is there a better time to go crazy with fun on a holiday than Halloween? Halloween brings out the spirits for an evening of unnerving costumes, candy, and spooky things to do. It has always balanced the line between incredibly scary and family-friendly, offering activities for all ages- and nerves.

Sarasota extends the holiday for the whole weekend and sometimes even the entire month, with plenty of exciting events, including a stop at the burying grounds, a costume contest with pets, and the essential Fright Night.

What are the craziest Sarasota things to do this Halloween while staying at our resort hotel in Siesta Key?

Explore the famous St. Armand’s Circle on Lido Key with your kids. Expect costumes, performances, and plenty of fun.

St. Armand’s Fright Night

St. Armand’s Circle beams with a soft orange glow on October 31st of every year. This is the essence of Fright Night- an extravagant get-together bringing local restaurants, shops, and artists out for a spooky good time.

You never know what to expect. Fright Night features special deals by local businesses, which often cover their buildings with often spooky and sometimes fun decorations. Characters may appear (sometimes quick and out of nowhere) dressed as famous monsters and other classic horror icons.  One year even featured a seemingly impromptu performance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” with dancers decked out as zombies and werewolves!

You can explore St. Armands Circle with the backdrop of Halloween as your guide. Navigate the shops, find dinner for all, and make sure to stay on your toes. The event usually runs from around 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Sarasota Ghost Tours

Sarasota Ghost Tours indulges in the spooky and spirited locales of Sarasota. This trip is like no other. You can participate in an authentic ghost hunt. This interactive tour allows guests to use the equipment as they search top Sarasota haunts for spirit activity, including some K2 meters & temperature reading laser pointers.

While using the equipment, guests can learn the various real-life stories that occurred, and hear about the sightings reported over the years in these various areas. The tours are not recommended for children. The graphic history will unnerve you as you see often where they happened while trying to understand… why?

Tours are available for the month of October and the week of Halloween. Reservations are required.

The Black Diamond Burlesque Halloween Show

Just as the sun settles for the evening and the fire kicks up, Black Diamond Burlesque can be felt in the air. This spectacle of a showcase defines the term “haunted beauty.” Performers will tap into their inner spirit for feats of fancy, daring dance moves, and a provocative showstopper.

It’s an extraordinary show and party, borrowing the haunted gothic elements of burlesque and vaudeville to create something truly memorable.

This is an adults-only show. Tickets are $20 per person.

The venue for the show is the Cock & Bull Farmhouse in the Pizza & Tasting Room, located at 975 Cattlemen Road, Sarasota, FL 34232. Reserve tickets are not required but highly recommended. The show begins at 8 p.m. on October 27th, just a few days shy of Halloween.

Zombie Self-Defense

You wanted crazy. You wanted to test your limits and really strive for something refreshing. The zombie apocalypse may be right around the corner. Learn takedowns, tactical maneuvers, proper strikes, and more as you enhance your self-defense skills under the guise of the end-of-the-world.

Test your newly acquired skills against some “defanged” zombies. The instructors embrace the Halloween spirit. You may find the lights dim and the zombies untether as you try out your new skills.

The workshop is Oct. 20th at 1015 17th Street West, Palmetto, FL 34221. Connect with other attendees to create a special Halloween get-together.
