Where To Go

Hotels near Siesta Key offer a great location for pet-friendly activities. You’ll be able to bring your dog with you to a dog park and on natural trails. Brohard Paw Park used to allow you to bring your dog to the beach, but you can no longer bring your dog to the location.

Dogs are not allowed on any beaches in Siesta Key, unfortunately. But there are still a lot of great locations that you can enjoy with your dog.

Dog Parks

The green grass, quiet and nature-filled parks are the perfect choice for Fido. You’ll find a lot of dog-friendly parks in the area, including:

  • 17th Street Paw Park, with grassy areas for your pup to run and enjoy the outdoors.
  • Lakeview Paw Park is located near Proctor Road and offers a beautiful oasis next to the elementary school. There’s also a “time out” zone for dogs that can’t behave.
  • Woodmere Park, located on Woodmere Park Blvd in Venice, Florida, is a small park that has shady and sunny areas along with picnic tables. The park’s small size makes it a great choice for smaller dogs.

If you don’t want to spend the day at the park, why not try a nature trail?

Nature Trails

You can bring your pup to the local nature trails. Some of the best places to go are large parks that offer hiking trails. A few of the top spots to go are:

  • Myakka State Park, which includes miles of forests to explore and hiking trails.
  • Venetian Waterway Park, which is filled with beautiful paths, vistas and green fields.
  • Red Bug Slough Reserve, which is a 72-acre preserve with hiking trails and a playground.

Hiking trails are great for dogs that are over-energetic and need to expend their energy. Hike the trails together and then visit the Bayside Pet Resort, which offers a little pampering for your pup.

Where To Eat

Don’t rush and bring your pup back to your room at Sarasota resorts when going out to eat – bring your pup with you. Siesta Keys, and Sarasota County, are very dog-friendly, with multiple restaurants welcoming dogs.

You will need a well-behaved pup that is not aggressive to visit these locations.

A few of the top restaurants to visit (there are over 40 in Sarasota) that welcome dogs are:

  • Old Salty Dog on Ocean Blvd is 100% dog-friendly
  • Bijou Café at the corner of First Street and Pineapple Avenue
  • Patrick’s 1481 is on 1481 Main Street

Call ahead of time to ask about indoor pet policies. A lot of these locations will allow you to bring your pet when sitting on the patio. If you plan on eating indoors, you may not be allowed to bring your dog inside.

A quick call will let you know whether or not to bring your dog back to your room before heading out to eat.

There are more than 40 restaurants that are pet-friendly to some extent in Siesta Key. You’ll also find a plethora of shops that allow your dog to tag along when you’re shopping.
