Nearby Areas to Explore

If you are vacationing with a car, you’ll want to take a few day trips off Siesta Key to explore nearby cities and islands.

Sarasota is the cultural hub of Florida and the large city in the area with a population of more than 55,000. Eat at one of the city’s popular farm-to-table restaurants, or enjoy a night at the theater or opera. Sarasota is alive with performances year-round.

Lido Key is another barrier island just north of Siesta Key. Drive past downtown Sarasota and across John Ringling Blvd. Bridge, passing Bird Key on your way. Lido Key is home to St. Armands Circle, a popular shopping and dining area surrounded on all sides by water.

Go even further north and you’ll hit Anna Maria Island, another southern Florida gem. Anna Maria is located an hour north of Siesta Key adjacent to the city of Bradenton and has a number of piers, parks, and restaurants to visit. Check out Pine Avenue and Bridge Street for shopping and dining.
