Beach Details

One of the reasons Siesta Beach is such a sought after location is because of its beautiful sand. The nearly pure quartz sand is as fine and soft as sugar, and is a brilliant white color.

The beach, and the land that surrounds it, was purchased back in the 1950’s through a referendum. The park features a historic pavilion honoring famed architect Edward J. Seibert. One other unique thing about Siesta Beach is the weekly sunset drum circle on Sundays that happens right on site.

If you forgot to bring anything with you, you won’t have to worry. Siesta Beach also has a great rental area where you can get chairs, umbrellas, and even beach wheelchairs for the day.

Things to Do

Of course, you can spend the day laying on the soft sand soaking up the sun rays, or jump into the warm and sparkling waters, but there’s more to do at Siesta Beach that just the typical activities.

There are areas within the park that you can cast a line and do some fishing. You can also use the pavilion for a picnic, or choose one of the several other picnic areas to relax.

For sports enthusiasts, there’s a playground for the kids, and a volleyball court and tennis courts to play on. There are also some hiking trails where you can enjoy birdwatching and maybe even spot some of the area’s other wildlife. You can also buy some concessions if you’re looking for a quick refreshing drink or a snack.

As for the beach, lifeguards are on duty while the beach is open to make sure you and your family stays safe while enjoying the beauty of Siesta Beach.

The waters are also notoriously calm and ideal for families with young children. Appropriate floatation devices should be used of course, but it doesn’t get much safer than Siesta Beach, making it frequently listed at the very top of family friendly beach rankings.
